New development of the e-Business Register makes company deletion easier and clearer

As a result of the recent development of the e-Business Register portal, the steps for deleting a company have become much more understandable than before. Whereas previously, the necessary instructions had to be sought in legislation and various online environments, now all the necessary information is gathered in one place.

Liquidation and deletion applications could also be submitted electronically in the past, but entrepreneurs who rarely encounter such a process often lacked a comprehensive overview. For example, it was often overlooked that creditors must be notified immediately. The new solution provides comprehensive background information and describes the stages of the deletion process along with timely notifications. This helps entrepreneurs to submit the correct documents to the registration department and avoid delays.

The e-Business Register guides the entrepreneur throughout the deletion process – starting with choosing the correct application form and the amount of the state fee, up to the time spent completing each step. The entrepreneur is also notified via the portal about the arrival of the next stages of the process.

There are five steps to be taken when winding up an operating company: filing a liquidation application, publishing a notice in the Official Gazette, submitting a liquidation report and final report to the register, and finally a deletion application. Under the simplified procedure, a company can be deleted immediately only if business activities have not commenced.

The development was completed in cooperation with the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, which supported the project from the recovery and resilience funding funds, which aims to provide entrepreneurs with a comprehensive and user-friendly solution. A link to the deletion process of a legal entity will soon be available on the state portal eesti.ee.
